We started the 3 hour drive to Abilene, TX sunday afternoon. It was me and my parents, of course, as well as my best friend, the lovely Ellen Tovar. I was beyond excited, just ask my parents or ellen, i was going a little crazy.. haha. The drive to Abilene wasn't that long, i had a friend to keep me company!
We got there and checked in to our hotel, went into the rooms to find it had two double bed for 4 people. We laughed at how we would be getting to know each other really well that night, being in such tight quarters. (it ended up being fine, Ellen and i are to tiny)
Then we went to go find dinner, we decided on Pizza Hut. After we ate we drove around ACU in the dark, it was beautiful!
The next morning we got up bright and early for a day of college touring.
When we got there we found out we each had our own parking spot!!!
We got to the college early...so we waited while texting and fbing!
They had our names cycling through the tv with the other visitors scheduled for that day!
We took the campus tour. I love the campus so much! Then we went to chapel. We went to meet with the Interior Design Department. Had a good talk with them! Saw the building. Toured the gallery. I almost passed out, i had just been standing too long listening. I got a dp and sat for a while and recovered. We went to eat at the World Famous Bean!! Then Met with my counselor. The we met with a fb friend of mine who attends ACU. Danielle alked to us about the college, she was so great. Bought a shirt! Then went home!!
The day was wonderful! Ellen and i had fun and really enjoyed touring ACU. I know where i'm going next fall!!

Where is all started...up till now.
As I walked into my Interior Design class on the first day of school I was excited to be taking a creative class, one that I was taking purely for the fun of it. Little did I know that taking that Interior Design class my junior year of high school would change the course of my life.
Before my junior year I had decided I was going to be a teacher, but I had not decided on what kind of teacher. I felt happy choosing this, but not content. As my junior year progressed I fell in love with all aspects of interior design. I loved all the projects we did with color, drawing, and styles. Interior design captured my imagination and by taking the class God showed me what I was meant to pursue in life.
I have not picked a college to attend yet, but my choices within the state of Texas are few. I plan on majoring in Interior Design and will graduate with a Bachelors Degree. I have not decided on a minor but am considering business or an artistic minor that will help with my major. I am looking forward to college, to getting out on my own and finding my place in this world. I am excited about the activities that I will be able to be a part of while attending college. I am also more than ready to dive into the academic world of Interior Design. I cannot wait to be doing projects and designing and being surrounded by the artistic world.
I have so many dreams and ideas of what I want to do after college; I would not even know where to start. But as far as goals go, I do have a few. After I graduate college I hope and will need to find a job right out of college at a design firm. I have to be a junior designer for 2 years to get a certain amount of hours in the design field before I can take the I want to go into the hospitality or residential side of Interior Design, so I will begin my job hunt with firms, in the Dallas, Texas area, dealing with those two aspects of design.
All these plans, hopes, and dreams are great. They will help me get to where I am going in life. But when it comes down to it, I do not have any say in my life. My life is in God’s hands and what happens to me, what job I get, who and when I marry is all up to Him. I have put my life into his hands; I will follow His direction to show me where I am supposed to go. My real goal in life is to follow my Savior where He wants me to go.
This is a college application essay i had to write, it is outdated but gives a good glimpse of what i want to do with my life and how i decided on interior design.
Below are some pictures of the designs i have done in Interior Design 201 (the second year course), enjoy!

The Begining
Hi! I'm Rachel! I am a senior in high school, i graduate in 70 days!! I am attending Abilene Christian University in the fall and will be majoring in Interior Design.
I am creating this blog because one of my leaders at church, who've i've known since third grade and is the woman i look up to the most at church, wanted me to keep up with her while i'm at college. I wanted to do this for her, but i wanted to find a way that was easier and more creative than just sending her an email. So i had the idea to blog about it!
I have been apart of two other blogs, and they kinda failed. But since i know i will have Mrs. Cheryl wanting to be kept up to date i will try my very hardest to keep this blog up to date.
I will post things from here on out that have to do with my career college in any form. There will be stories, pictures, projects, and who knows what else. I hope you enjoy!
